He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sindt and Willetta Howard Sindt (Thelma Sindt). He is survived by: his former wife Thelma Irene Zimmerman; his wife Sheryl Danker Nelsen; his children, Michael Sindt, Liane Long (Aaron) and Brad Mattoon (Kent); his stepdaughters, Cindy Hustig (Rick) and Kim Dresen (Steve); and his siblings, John Sindt (Elaine), Robert Sindt (Kathryn) and Julie Bruderer (John). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
