He is survived by: his parents, Marvin Schmitz and Joan Schmitz (Petsche) of Harlan, Iowa; his children, Deren Dennis Schmitz (Delaney) of Harlan, IA and Gunner Marvin Schmitz (Emma Reisz) of Casey, IA; his wife Gina Schmitz of Kirkman, IA; and his siblings, Steve Schmitz of Westphalia, IA, Julie Sattler (Joe) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Amy Coseo (Tom) of Milliken, CO and Nick Schmitz of Carroll, IA. He is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
