We are sad to announce that on January 6, 2025 we had to say goodbye to Russell Lee Brandes of Hancock, Iowa, born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Brandes and Maxine Brandes (Rank); his wife Phyllis; and his sister Judy Scheffler. He is survived by: his sister Joyce (Dennis Hickerson) of Boise, Idaho; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Scheffler of Hancock, Alan Reed (Linda) of Spickard, Missouri, Alyce Mattis of Mt. Ayr, Lisa Jackson of Mt. Ayr and Debbie (Bill Dodge) of Des Moines, Iowa. He is also survived by seven nephews and three nieces; and give great-nephews and five great-nieces; and hopefully a great many friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakland Community Building (614 Dr Van Zee Rd, Oakland, IA 51560). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Silver Creek United Methodist Church (36418 Pinoak Rd, Hancock, IA 51536).

A memorial fund is being established in Russ's name.
