She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Thompson and Jean Thompson (Angen); and her brother Warren. She is survived by: her husband Odis Steadman; and her sons, Arron Cohen and Brian Evenskaas.

Kathy completed her education at Sentinel High School in Missoula, Montana, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and intelligent contributions to class discussions.
