Fortney) of Yale and Nici Thomas (Joseph) of Kentucky; his parent Margaret Rexford of Guthrie Center; his siblings, Rita Nielsen Bosier (Wess) of Redfield, Jim Brittain (Claire) of Guthrie Center, Chuck Brittain of Audubon and Bet Constantine (Andy) of Altoona; his mother-in-law Rose Mellott of Panora; his brother Randy Thorp of Minnesota; his sister-in-law Vickie Wipperman (Whip) of Minburn; his adoptive parents, Elmer, Lucille Brittain and Amber; his great-niece Tab; and his great-nephew Nick. He was also cherished by 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
