He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Deest and Gladys Van Deest (Meester). He is survived by: his wife Joyce Elaine Eilers of Grundy Center; his children, Roland Van Deest of Hartshorne, OK, Laura Hopper (Curtis) of Keystone, IA, Nancy Jungling (Mark) of Grundy Center and Paul Van Deest (Gina) of Peck, KS; his grandchildren, Nathan (Jorden), Matthew, Haley Jungling, Marissa Hopper, Chloe Kaplan (Ben), Nick (Amber), Reed and Paige Van Deest; his great grandchildren, Eli Blinks, Emma Jungling, Jensen Jungling and Maple Kaplan; and his siblings, Don Van Deest (Amy) of Weslaco, TX, Neva Blankenship of Grundy Center and Ardys Cade (Dave) of Des Moines. He is also survived by father and grandfather, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used for a memorial in memory of Norman at a later date.
