He was predeceased by: his parents, D. L. Butler and Zelma Ida Pierce; his wife Velva Butler; his brother Ed Butler; his sister-in-law Judy Butler; and his grandson-in-law Usen Edittu.
He is survived by: his children, David Butler (Yolanda) of Eldora and Denise Hull (Shannon) of Waverly, Iowa; his grandchildren, Daniel Butler (Alisa) of Grundy Center, Rachel Edittu of Eldora, Quinton Butler (Grace) of Iowa Falls, Keaton Hull (Sydney) of Urbana and Danae Hull of Waverly, Iowa; his sister Eileen Butler of Hillsboro, Kansas; and his brother-in-law Irvin Wagner (JoAnn) of Norman, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
