He is survived by: his former wife Laura Peak; his daughter Kelsey Anne Whitaker; his wife Beth Ann Malcolm of Grinnell; his stepchildren, Elizabeth Ann Uhl, Daniel Richard Uhl (Morgan) of Grinnell and Elizabeth Smith (Alex) of Fairbank; his siblings, Dennis Whitaker of Grinnell, Tim Whitaker (Karen) of Iowa City and Ruth Whitaker of Whittier, California; his sister-in-law Diane McCombs (John Rupe) of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Weston Smith, Raylan Smith and Gracelynn Uhl; and his great-nephew Devin Cronin.
