She was predeceased by: her father John W. Schwind III. She is survived by: her mother Dorothy Hansen Schwind of Davenport; her husband J. Michael Thorndike of Grinnell; her daughters, Suzanne "Zanny" Strickler of Charleston and Heather Sanders (Brad) of Urbandale; her grandchildren, Joseph, Ally, Gabby Strickler and Brock Sanders; and her brothers, Jay of Davenport and Matt Schwind of Davenport.

Memorial contributions may be designated to Poweshiek Animal League (PALS) in Grinnell.
