He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Smith and Dorothy Smith (Mauderly). He is survived by: his wife Julie Monroe; his sons, Tyler Smith (Fiona) of Urbandale, Travis Smith (Sam) of Grinnell and Troy Smith (Catherine Pearce) of Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Finn, Mira of Urbandale, Theo, Nigel and Duncan of Grinnell; and his siblings, Lori Van Wyk (Mike) of Denver, Colorado and Claude Smith (Christie) of Custer.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Randy Smith Memorial Fund and can be mailed in c/o to the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
