He is survived by: his wife Donna D. Lauber of Grinnell; his children, Sonya Moss (Steve) of Iowa City, Randy German (Peg) of Grinnell, Rick German of St. Joseph and Scott German (Susan) of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Stephanie Moss, Stacy Zeller (Luke), Brooke Hakert (Kevin), Cole German (Jonna), Bart German, Bret Dillman (Evan), Bethany Juhl (Steve), Kari Taylor (Derek), Mitchell German, Brad German (Andrew), Ashley Cook (Fred) and Desiree Strayer (Jake); his granddaughter-in-law Sarah Moss; his great grandchildren, Gavin, Logan, Brady, Sloan, Jagger, Kamryn, Kane, Maryn, Maverick, Marcus, Roslyn, Sydni, Myia, Kael, Jackson, Jacey, Jayla, Jetson, Lexi, Tori, Addi, Ashton, Jax, Barrett, Lydia, Sebastian, Trey and Keira; his great great grandchild Sawyer; and his brother Hugh German.
