He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Loew; his children, Amelia Loew and Adam Loew; his parents, Bernard "Bernie" and Carol Jean Brown; and his siblings, Beth Bistrow (Van), Chris Brown (Johanna Poethig), Julia Sutter (Paul), Peter Brown (Rebecca) and Lincoln Brown (Sarah Lickey Diwan).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to the Nature Conservancy, Hawaii chapter, Ka'u Preserve, the Jackie Brown memorial scholarship or CERA at Grinnell College.
