She was predeceased by: her siblings, Stephens Smiley and Julia Richardson (Smiley); and her mother Alice Smiley (Stephens). She is survived by: her husband David; her children, Anne and Peter (Bridget Bird Ketter); her grandchildren, Elijah, Alexandra Busse and Amelia Ketter; her brother Charles Smiley; and her father Wilmoth Smiley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Norton, Ks. Library or Grinnell-Newburg School Foundation and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
