She was predeceased by: her parents, George Elmer and Fern Maurine Berry Shook; her husband Charles Earl "Jake" Gilliland; her son-in-law Larry Kraninger; her grandson Steven Scott Olson; her brothers, John and George Shook; and her grandparents, Roger, Maude Nail Berry, Elijah and Elsie Provin Shook.
She is survived by: her children, Donald C. Gilliland of Des Moines, Carla M. Kraninger of Grinnell, Charles E. Gilliland of Anchorage and Connie "Jodi" Gilliland of Des Moines; her stepson Michael Gilliland of Hanoi, Vietnam; her siblings, Kathryn Benson of Mountain Grove, Marty Mitts of Golden Valley, Helen Sharkey of Mountain Grove, Marcella Houge of Boone, Connie Wheeler of Des Moines, Bonnie Otto of Des Moines, Margaret Shook-Carl of Alaska, James Shook of Pella and Jerry Shook of Marshalltown; and also Fenris. She is also survived by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
