He was predeceased by: his parents, Wendell Wayne and Betty Louise Sanders; and his son Matthew. He is survived by: his wife Gerri Burkett of Grinnell; his son Mark Sanders of Grinnell; his siblings, Harold Sanders of Blue Springs and Jane Vargas (Kenny) of Montezuma; and his grandchildren, Breanna, Jena, Gage and Jacob Sanders.

Memorial contributions may be designated to the Grinnell Volunteer Fire Department.
