He is survived by: his mother Shirley Sears (Vance) of Grinnell; his former wife Sue Schrader; his wife Denise Bennett Sears of Grinnell; his children, Angela Sears-Sutherland (Eric) of Virginia Beach, VA and David "Matt" Sears (Jodi Davis) of Newton, IA; and his siblings, Pam Montgomery (Jack) of Grinnell, Jim Sears (Rebecca) of Newton, Jeff Sears (Michelle) of Grinnell and Chris Sears of Kellogg, IA.. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
