She is survived by: her husband John Avitt of Grinnell; her daughters, Kyra Freeborn (Landon Mackin) of Paducah, Cassie Freeborn of Grinnell, Kelsey Freeborn (Nick Popp) of Grinnell and Josie Avitt of Grinnell; her mother LaVerda Schmidt-Fitzgerald of Grinnell; her sisters, Annette Montgomery (Rod) of Grinnell and Pam Bennington of Grinnell; her nephews, Dustin Montgomery of Grinnell, Levi Bennington (Shannon) of Lynnville and Lucas Bennington of Cedar Falls; her niece Kaitlin Watkins (Justin) of Sully; and her great-nephews, Cameron Bennington and Bentley Watkins of Sully. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
