He was predeceased by: his nephew Courtney Johnston; and his grandfather Gerald Hines. He is survived by: his parents, Don Johnston and Verna Johnston; his wife Gwen (Armstrong); his children, Angela (Jason), Jennifer (Shaun) and Adam; his grandchildren, Syanne, Kheera, Marshall and Aliyah; and his siblings, Marilea (Jeff) and Gale (Kally). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Greenfield United Methodist Church (108 SW 5th St, Greenfield, IA 50849). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 at the Greenfield Cemetery (2493 IA-25, Greenfield, IA 50849).
On August 31, Steve lost his battle to diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson's and ALS.
