She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Hughes and Frances Hughes (Palma); her husband Junior Hess; her siblings, Bill, Gary, Donald Hughes and Mary Funke; and her nephews, Paul Hughes and Kevin Funke.
She is survived by: her children, David Harris of Greenfield, Lynn Harris (Shelly) of Greenfield, Jay Hess (Eva) of Greenfield and Laura Hess of Waukee; her grandchildren, Mackenzie Swanson (Kiley), Samantha Britten (Thomas), Colby Harris (Kacee Klommhaus), Eli Harris, Maddison Hess, Vegas Johnston and Ronyn Johnston; and her great grandchild Ava Swanson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lamb Funeral Home - Greenfield (101 SE 4th St, Greenfield, IA 50849). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. John's Catholic Church (213 NE Elm St, Greenfield, IA 50849).
Memorials: May be directed to the Elaine Hess Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
