He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucy Westphal (Speed) and Ralph H. Westphal; his wife Zola; and his sisters, Esther Hazen (Calvin), Estelle Blazek (Kenneth) and Carol Nielsen (Charles).
He is survived by: his daughters, Nancy Laird (Jack), Sherol Brown and Celia Westphal; his grandsons, Brian Brown, John Laird (Erin), Alex Barber and David Laird (Kelly); and his great grandchildren, Hannah Bradley and Gavin Barber.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church (424 Scott St, Fontanelle, IA 50846). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
