He was predeceased by: his parents, Ambrose Holtz and Gertrude Holtz; and his sister Julia. He is survived by: his brother Bill (Jeannette) of Cedar Rapids; his nieces, Julie Holtz of Littleton, Susan Holtz and Ann Ogoreuc (Tom) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and his nephew Matthew (Dawn) of New York City.

Memorials may be directed to Loras College, Wartburg College, the Regional Medical Center, the Good Neighbor Home, or the Greeley Fire Department.
