He was predeceased by: his parents, John "J. P." Gaul and Sylvia Gaul (Fischbach); his wife Cathy (Rock); his siblings, Gert Dekker, Sr., Ruth Block (Henry), Joan Meaden (Jim), Ellie Crawford (Loren), Mark Gaul, Angela Uhrich and Rose Nelson-Wilkes (Marshall); his nephew Jim Homan; and his siblings-in-law, Evelyn Rock, Bill Childers, Eugene Nelson, Loren Crawford, Harry Block and Jim Meaden.
He is survived by: his stepsons, Timothy Lindstrom (Gretchen) of Goodyear, AZ and Brent Lindstrom (Sheila) of Baton Rouge, LA; his siblings, Clare Pottebaum (Ivan) of Granville, IA, Kathy Hopkins (Gayle) of Clarinda, IA, Marjorie Childers of Escondido, CA, Peter Gaul (Barbara) of Alexandria, VA and Ted Gaul (Elaine) of Des Moines, IA; and his brother-in-law Marvin Rock of Boise, ID. He is also survived by 3 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (528 Elm St, Granville, IA 51022). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
