Guelda Barker Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Guelda Barker of Grant, Iowa, who passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Guelda Barker to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Grant Albert Stamper and Mildred Pearl Keller Stamper; her adoptive father Marshall; her husbands, Donald Alfred Shrimpton and Marshall Earnest Barker; her brothers, Doyle E., Donald Gene and Phillip Dan; and her sisters-in-law, Gloria, Louise Stamper and Laviece Barker.
She is survived by: her son Jerry Duane (Jean Pottorff) of Mt. Pleasant, IA; her grandson Cory Knedler of Grandmother's Ravioli; her daughters, Marlys Jeanne Meacham (Charles) of Tucson, AZ and Janet Lynn Knedler (James) of Topeka, KS.; her grandchildren, Karmen Renee Smith (David) of New London, IA, Darrel Gene Barker (Diann) of Madison, WI, Kelly Rae Knedler (Tami) of Belleville, KS, Cory Shawn Knedler (Young Ae) of Sioux Falls, SD and Brent Michael Knedler of Brighton, CO; her granddaughter-in-law Beth Samenus; her great grandchildren, Bradyn Lee Smith, Zachary Nicholas Parker, Marshal A. Knedler, Alden Grant Knedler, Jayden Knedler, Lindsay Marie Smith, Epiphany Sandra Knedler (Tim Rickett), Hope Grey Knedler, Aria Larue Smith (Riley) and Jordan D. Knedler; and her sister-in-law Mary Stamper.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Armstrong Funeral Home (205 W Monroe St, Mt Ayr, IA 50854). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church and Mount Ayr Schools Lunch Fund. Keep Guelda's legacy alive by donating to a charity in need.
