He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Smith and Mary Smith (Rominger); his pet Floyd; his wife Verna Paulsen; and his siblings, Lisa Patterson (Dave) of Douglas and Bill McVay (Faith) of Cedar Rapids. He was also cherished by 5 grandchildren, a great-grandson, and a nephew.
