He was predeceased by: his parents, Mandius Hanson and Johanna Hanson (Torkelson); and his siblings, Orville, Johnny, Eddie, Jeannette and Arlene.

He is survived by: his wife Karla Schafer; his children, Ron Hanson (Julie), Rod Hanson (Robin), Craig Hanson (Sue), Brett Hanson (Ann) and Darcey Morris (Toby); his grandchildren, Kyle Hanson (Jordan), Amber Hanson, Ryan Hanson (Stephanie), Will Hanson, Conner Hanson, Tiffany Manwarren, Amanda Berger, Adam Hanson, Andrew Hanson (Kendra), Austin Hanson, Kendra Hanson, Jeremiah Mooney (Rose), Savannah Mooney, Taylor Morris (Rylee), Jacob Morris (Makenzie), Jordan Petersen (Andrew) and Ashley Vust (Alex); and his siblings, Marie, Charlotte, Merle and Clara. He is also survived by his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
