He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Stevens and Cora Williams Stevens; his wife Letha Marie Reed; his children, James Stevens, Sr. (Janet) of Keokuk, Lewis "Art" Stevens of Missouri, Shirley Stevens of Keokuk, Nancy Bell (Stacy) of Keokuk, Laurie Townsend (Gary) of Peoria and Verlan "Spud" Stevens, Jr; and his grandson Jack L. Stevens. He was also cherished by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A gathering of remembrance will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11 at the Lake Cooper Foundation at 810 Main St in Keokuk.
