He was predeceased by: his siblings, Vilda Thurston, Jim Thurston, Dan Thurston and Sandra Vanderhoff; and his parents, James Thurston and Vilda Thurston (Thompson).
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Thurston of Abilene, Dawn Taylor (Tom) of Gowrie and Randy Thurston (Angie) of Harcourt, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tyler, Matti, Sydney, Gage, Teryn and Kendal; his siblings, Julia LaBaume (Jerry), Gary Thurston (Sandra) and Fran Stauffer; and his wife Jennifer Sampson.
