It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward McWeeny of Gowrie, Iowa, who passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo McWeeny and Maxine McWeeny (Wolf); his sister JoAnn Wand; his brothers-in-law, Jay Wand, Jim Braunger and Bruce Smith; and his grandson Nathan Edwards.
He is survived by: his wife Caryl McWeeny of Gowrie; his children, David McWeeny (Kerri) of San Diego, Gary Edwards (Joan) of Glen Allen, Virginia, Julie Miller (Michael) of Polk City, Mary Potter (Andrew) of Marshalltown and Dennis McWeeny of Washington, DC; his siblings, Patricia Braunger of Coralville, Helen Dowling (John) of Flemington, Mary Lee Clarke (Kelly) of Elk Horn, Oliva Smith of West Liberty and Jim McWeeny (Sara Sommerlot); and his grandchildren, Bradley McWeeny, Ryan McWeeny, Adam Edwards, Stephen Edwards, Luke Miller, Kayla Potter, Colin Potter and Drew Potter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Holy Trinity Church and American Legion Peterson Post #431.
