He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Janning and Theodora Janning (Schoeppner); and his siblings, Louise Grossman, Dorothy Becker, Lawrence, Jerome, John, Kenneth and Earnest.
He is survived by: his grandsons, Jay Schon, Greg Schon, Carter Burns and Nathan Burns; his wife Julie; his daughters, Dana Schon (David), Jennifer Burns (Rodney), Sara Fleecs (Kevin) and Robin McAninch (Tony); his grandchildren, Rachel Schon, Meg, Nate Burns, Adrianna, Julia, Grant Fleecs, McKenzie, Madison, Malia and Meradith McAninch; his siblings, Lois Mein (Dan) and Bernie Janning; and also, Dana Schon, Jennifer Burns, Sara Fleecs and Robin McAninch. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
