He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert and Rita Elizabeth Powers (Loew); and his nephew Jeremy Swartz. He is survived by: his daughter Brenna (Dustin Sturm); his granddaughter Averly Sturm of Hamburg, Iowa; and his siblings, John Powers of Denison, Iowa, Jim "Joker" Powers of Irwin, Iowa, Mary Ann (Deryan Mennis) of Sioux Falls, Patricia (Kenard Brown) of Manning, Iowa, Tom (Sherry Powers) of Irwin, Iowa and Gerri Ann (Keith Wagner) of Manning, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Memorial donations may be directed to his daughter to help pay for final expenses.
