He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dale Steven and Phyllis Louise Brodie (Thomas); his wife Kelly Brodie; his daughter Emily Brodie (Nic Carnes); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa, Chris Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa, Sophia Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa, Isabelle Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa, Nolan Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa and Brodie Carnes of Glenwood, Iowa; his siblings, Sharon, Butch and Lynn; and his parents-in-law, Sterling, Ruth Shreve, Denny and Karen Thiel. He was also cherished by relative and friends.
