She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Albert Eatinger and Myra Eatinger (Miller); her significant other Jack Carter; her children, Douglas Carter (Esther) of Novato, CA, Richard Carter of Marshalltown, IA and Cynthia Halverson (Mark Vry) of Marshalltown, IA; her grandchildren, Sidney Mamanos (Josh), Maggie Stalzer (Brett) and Megan Carter (Kyle Austin); her great grandchildren, Jack Mamanos and Marlena Stalzer; her sisters, Hattie Moyer (Dale) of Newton, IA and Juanita Freese; and her daughter-in-law Lee Schaa. She was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Joan's name to Hospice Compassus or the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League.
