It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Daniel R. Schmit (Gilbertville, Iowa), who passed away on April 29, 2020, at the age of 56, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Cletus Lawrence Schmit; his brother-in-law Ryan Keegan; his niece Callista Hall; and his nephew James Keegan. He is survived by: his mother Marcella Mae Schmit (Pierce) of Gilbertville; his wife Leta Schmit of Jesup; his children, Jacob Schmit of Iowa City, Jonathan Schmit of Jesup, Caleb Schmit of Jesup and Rachel Schmit of Jesup; and his siblings, Crystal Murphy (Dennis) of Central City, IA, Cheryl Hall (Jim) of Centennial, CO, Connie Mangrich (Allen) of Gilbertville and Gary Schmit (Anne) of Mason City, IA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials will be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Bosco System and to Cedar Valley Hospice.
