He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosemary Benda (Culshaw) and Raymond LaRoy Brown; his brother Terry Brown; and his brother-in-law Dave Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Sumpter; his children, Kimberly Cournoyer (Gary), Genesis Steffens (Brad), Randi Reeves (Cody), Brandee Brown and Christian Brown (Kelci Beaty); his grandchildren, Riley Cournoyer, Leah, Ezra Steffens, Bradley, Cody II, Lincoln LaRoy, Lilah Reeves, Emrie Sager and Leon LaRoy Brown; and his sisters, Joelyne "Weiner" Stackhouse (Donnie) of Green Mountain, Julie Taylor of Tama and Becky Stephenson (Jeff) of Tama. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
