We bid farewell to Verne J. Hejlik of Garner, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 7, 2024 at the age of 89. Verne touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Hejlik and Rosetta Hejlik (Phillips); his daughter Cindy Dodd; his son-in-law Richard Fisher; and his siblings, Marjorie Savage (Bud), Donald, Art Hejlik (Betty) and Harold Hejlik.
He is survived by: his children, Deb Rygh (Jim) of Lake Mills, Susie Kozisek (Butch) of Ventura, Tim Hejlik (Sharon) of Garner and Tony Hejlik (Melany) of Garner; his son-in-law Rod Dodd (Barb) of Garner; his grandchildren, Michael Rygh (Lisa), David Rygh (Margaret), Travis Dodd (Tiffany), Corey Dodd (Emily), Brad Kozisek (Casi), Ashley Larkin (Jay), Chelsey Cozad (Tom), Richie Kozisek (Hannah), Lincoln Harms (Lyndi), Lance Hejlik (Alicia), Lucas Hejlik (Taylor), Justine McGrath (Brad), Jessica Wood (Wyatt) and Jamie Hejlik; his close friend Beverly Dietrich; and his sister-in-law Doris Harms (Harley) of Buffalo Center. He is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A wake was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 4:30 PM at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel (160 E 4th St, Garner, IA 50438). Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the Cataldo Funeral Home-Garner Chapel (160 E 4th St, Garner, IA 50438). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St Boniface Catholic Church (660 Bush Ave, Garner, IA 50438).
