He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Voortmann and Martha Voortmann (Onken); his brothers, Arnold and Clarence Voortmann; and his nephew Doug Voortmann.
He is survived by: his former wife Sarah Kroeze; his wife Carlene Bartleson; his great-nephew Dylan; his children, Mike Voortmann (Sheri) of Mason City, Jamie Voortmann of Clear Lake, Jeramy Voortmann (Kathleen) of Clear Lake and Kim Upmeyer (Justin); his grandchildren, Ben, Nick, Katie, Zak, Madison, Noah, Malinda and Sienna; his brother Harold Voortmann of Camdenton, MO; and his sister-in-law Maryann Voortmann of Garner. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Garner Fire Department or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
