He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Thein and Irene Thein (Tuecke); his brothers, Forrest, Melvin and Richard; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Ardella Helle; his siblings-in-law, Joseph, Louis Helle, Dale Mensen, Janell Thein, Mary Lou Thein, Fay Thein and Peggy Helle; his nephew James Thein; and his niece Shirley Buhrow.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Helle; his children, Barbara McGreal (Thomas) of Mitchellville, IA, Steven Thein (Carla) of Owatonna, MN and Mark Thein (Deanna); and his parents-in-law, Wilma Mensen of Dyersville, IA, Jerry Cox (JoAnn) of Champaign, IL, Betty Helle of Des Moines, IA, David Helle (Leslee) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Wayne Helle (Kathy) of Garnavillo, IA.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
