She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Witte and Laura Witte (Weiland); her father-in-law Alverne Hustedt; and her uncle Lloyd Weiland. She is survived by: her sister Karen Malcolm (Witte); her husband Randal Jay Hustedt of John's Lutheran Church; her children, Joel Hustedt (Jordan) of Galva, Chad Hustedt (Jennifer) of Alta, Keith Hustedt (Cori) of Fort Mill and Dana Hustedt of Galva, Iowa; her grandchildren, Eve, Jett Hustedt, Paisley, Presley, Grady Hustedt, Kason, Scotti Lee and Kade Hustedt; her sister Karen Malcom (Richard) of Schaller, Iowa; her nephew Marcus Malcom (Khara) of Lincoln, Nebraska; her niece Jenna Malcom of San Francisco, California; her mother-in-law Phyllis Hustedt of Galva, Iowa; and her siblings-in-law, Carol Scoles (Mark) and Lanny Hustedt of Galva.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League in Karla's name.
