He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Sr. (Margaret Pitts Derrick) and Victor; and his sister Norma. He is survived by: his daughter Yulonda Derrick (Lousiana); and his siblings, Patricia Townsend, Thomas Derrick, Larry Derrick Flemington (Mary) and Anthony Derrick Skokie (Sharon). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Oakland Cemetery (4025 Avenue O, Fort Madison, IA 52627).
