She was predeceased by: her parents, Trueman Matthews and Vivian Matthews; her husband Ken Hoffmeister; and her sister Nettie. She is survived by: her children, Kurt Hoffmeister (Ellen) of Leesburg, FL, Trueman Hoffmeister (Wendy) of Wewoka, OK and Joy Pankow (Bruce) of Greeley, CO; and her siblings, William Matthews (Sandy) of Greenville, NC and Trudy Hesse (late Ray) of Stillwell, KS.. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory (3507 Avenue L, Fort Madison, IA 52627). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. Jean was one of the original organizers of Fort Madison's RSVP, a longtime member of the King's Daughters and Sons Double Ten Circle of Fort Madison, served on the YMCA Board of Directors, and served on the Iowa State Penitentiary's Community Advisory Committee.
