He is survived by: his wife Melanie Fortney of Fort Dodge; his children, Mandy Waldschmidt (Paul II) of Fort Dodge, Marshall Fortney (Holly) of Otho, IA, Logan Rasch of Tucson, AZ, Launa Misleh (Dave) of Ponce Inlet, FL, Luke Rasch (Haliegh) of Shawnee, OK and Kara Crapser of Mithcelville, IA; his grandchildren, Jayce Waldschmidt (Echo Bearden), Gabriella Waldschmidt, Jolie Waldschmidt, Marie Fortney, Ethan Fortney, Liam Rasch, Addy, Henley, Ava Rasch and Isabel; his siblings, Vickie Hendrickson of St. Helens, OR and Terry Fortney (Bev); and his nieces and nephews, Jimmy Hendrickson (Sy), Stacy, Richard Fortney and Kelli Schmadeke (Chad).
