She was predeceased by: her parents, Edwin Hansch and Pearl Hansch (Johnson); and her siblings, Karen Wright and Dean Hansch. She is survived by: her sons, Jerry Patterson (Maureen) of Ames, IA and Robert Patterson (Anne) of Fort Dodge. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

“I knew Shitley first as waitperson extraordinaire at Mr. Ed's restaurant. Later she asked me out of the blue if I'd be her bridge partner at the FD Dupicate Bridge Club. We were both novices facing experienced opponents. I needed the fearless bold push which Shirley gave me to begin this game. We had many laughs & new experiences. I began to be introduced to a woman with much creativity & gardening magic who was willing to do anything for others & to try anything new. I will miss you Shirley....”
