He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bernie, Mary Monahan and Eleanor Cleland; his sister-in-law Mary Monahan (Debbie Monahan); his granddaughter Emily Bennigsdorf; his nephew Chad Gilbert; and his parents, Joseph Monahan and Loretta Monahan (Sedlmeier).
He is survived by: his children, Christine Bennigsdorf (Kevin), Debora Vawn (Danny) and Mike Monahan (Annette); his grandchildren, Zachary Bennigsdorf, Hanna Witt (Taylor), Nicholas Bennigsdorf, Tessa Korver (Jon), Evan Vawn, Chase Monahan, Gavin Westering, Brooklynn Monahan and Evelynn Monahan; his great grandchildren, Mary Jayne Monahan and Tommy Struchen; his siblings, Paul Monahan (Paulette), Patrick Monahan (Laura), Raymond "Ray" Monahan, Susanne Odendahl, Lucy Balke (Roger), Annette Michehl (Keith) and Beth Gilbert; his brother-in-law Ray Cleland (Shelly Heitner); and his former wife Michelle Pliner.
He will be remembered for his generous heart and being humble in his charitable contributions to a variety of non-profit organizations.
