He was predeceased by: his sons, Rod and Brian; his siblings, Sarah, Helen, Elmer, Mary, George, Agnes and Inez; and his parents, Ed Askeland and Edna Askeland.
He is survived by: his son Cal Askeland (Bev); his daughters-in-law, Liz Askeland, Laura Askeland, Mesa and Ariz; and his wife Darlene Ihnen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
