She was predeceased by: her nephew Marc Mason; her parents, Lyle Carlson and Lorna Carlson (Guggisberg); and her sister LaVon Mason. She is survived by: her nephew Wayne Mason (Michelle); her great-nephews, Josh (Kim) and Nick (Kerstan); her friends, Deb and Denny Thompson of Webster City; and also, Cael, Katie, Drew, Emma, Merritt, Maeve, Zach (Emily), Faith of Fort Dodge, Beau of Fort Dodge, Hope Ribbey (Nate) and Micah Thompson (Mikayla).

“Each Christmas, Loraine and her sister LaVon baked dozens of their favorite cookies and bars to give to their friends. Loraine wrote lovely encouraging notes when I was recovering from surgery. When asked how she knew exactly the right thing to say, she told me she always prayed before she began to write. Loraine lived the quiet, faithful life of a servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the 82 years Loraine was in my life and will miss her. Love to her nieces and nephews.”

“Loraine and I spent Christmas Eve together as children. Loraine smiled a lot. Whenever she wasn't smiling she showed an expression of loving concern, curious if I was working too hard, getting enough rest, taking good care of myself. Loraine's love language was FOOD. She was a formidable cook and an accomplished baker, having gently perfected scores of buttery recipes. Her handwritten fudge recipe includes her personal note, "This is just delicious!---You'll be amazed!" (cont'd),,”
