It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johanna Gerdes (Fort Dodge, Iowa), who passed away on September 19, 2019, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Merlyn Gerdes; and her parents, Leo Tetzlaf and Hegwig Tetzlaf (Koplin). She is survived by: her sons, Merlyn Gerdes Jr. (Carol) of Fort Dodge and David Gerdes of Frisco, TX; her adoptive daughters, Joleen Lawrence (Andy) of North Liberty and Jennefer Avant (Damone) of Omaha, NE; and her daughter Marion Guenther (Thomas) of Germany. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many foster children.
