He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles L. Bass and Bonnie Bass (Clark); his siblings, Clifford Bass and Debra Michalski; and his brother-in-law Robert Palmer.

He is survived by: his children, Andrew Bass (Maggie) of Denton, TX and Sarah Hilyard (Ryan) of Casper, WY; his grandchildren, Owen, Sophia, Noah, Jonah, Chloe, Karsten, Kaleb, Lukas and Levi; his siblings, Kenneth Bass (Patrice) of Fort Dodge, IA, Leonard Bass (Kathy) of Joplin, MO, Mark Bass of Farnhamville, IA, Linda Palmer of Fort Dodge and Kathleen Marquart (Greg) of Boone, IA; and his brother-in-law Mark Michalski of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
