He was predeceased by: his sons, Steve and Ron; his siblings, Cathy and Eddie Joe; and his parents, Lyle Smith and Eva Smith (Artzer).
He is survived by: his wife Janet Porter; his sons, Gary Smith (Gloria) of Fort Dodge and David Smith of Fort Dodge; and his siblings, Betty Ann Hefley of Fort Dodge and John Smith (Fran) of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
