It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Cates of Fort Dodge, Iowa, born in Manning, Iowa, who passed away on July 10, 2021, at the age of 50, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Marla Cates; his stepbrother Bill Thompson; and his sister-in-law Tesa Cates. He is survived by: his children, Whitney Hiner of Rockwell City and Brandon Cates of St. Cloud, MN; his father Marvin Cates (Sherry) of Rockwell City; his brothers, Jeff Cates of Rockwell City and Jon Cates (Amanda) of Lima, NY; his stepbrother Dan Thompson; his sister Janelle Elken (Jerredd) of Jefferson; his stepsister Michelle Brown (Rich) of Rockwell City; and his sister-in-law Suzi Bell of Rockwell City.
