He is survived by: his wife Karen Swanson (Dooley); his children, Kim Swanson (Carol), Steve Swanson (April), Mike Swanson, Susan Carter (Swanson) and Linda Swanson; and his brothers, William and Ernie. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
